Snowflake Café

The Snowflake Café runs during rabbits on Saturday mornings in January and February.

Background

Welcome to the Snow Valley Nordic Ski Club Web Site. The Snow Valley Nordic Ski Club is a non-profit organization with over 225 nordics skiing enthusiasts in the Kitimat and Terrace area. Today the club runs and maintains the Onion Lake Ski Trails located approximately halfway between Kitimat and Terrace. The club is run entirely by volunteers through the support of people like you, local governments and local business.

Onion Lake Ski TrailsSurrounded by the beautiful coast mountains and located in a snow belt, the Onion Lake Ski Trails have over 25 km of groomed trails and 5 km of lit trails for night skiing. The trail system has been built to suit a variety of skill levels and still provide easy access to many small lakes and spectacular views of the valley. Each year the club organizes and hosts the numerous events at the Onion Lake Ski Trails. So come out and enjoy the most popular winter sport in the world with us.

History

OriginaBombiely started as the Kitimat Cross Country Ski Club the club has changed and grown a great deal since its inception back in 1976. Over the years the club has constructed three different cross country skiing facilities. Previous facilities included the trails at the Hirsh Creek Golf and Country Club which featured 1.6 km of lit trails and the South Hirsch Ski Trails located just outside Kitimat. As the club grew the club turned to the Onion Lake area to build a first class skiing facility. Today the Onion Lake Ski Trails feature 25 km of Piston Bully 200 groomed trails linking a variety of different facilities including a club house at the trail head.

Volunteers

The growth and expansion of the Snow Valley Nordic Ski Club and our facilities would not be possible if were not for the many volunteers who have helped the club over the years. In the future the club has plans to build a new lodge and expand the existing ski trails to better serve our members and day users.
